●The Senate Intelligence Committee's study of the CIA interrogation program was assembled from more than six million pages of agency records and runs to roughly 6,700 pages. Only a redacted 525-page executive summary was published, in December 2014. The full report remains classified and largely unread.
●Releasing unwelcome material late on a Friday or immediately before a holiday is a named and recognised practice in political communications, chosen because coverage and readership are lowest then.
